What surprised and fascinated me about Diya Sangeeth’s poems is their wisdom, very unusual for a child of her age. But these are not just poems of knowledge and contemplation there is a deep awareness of the con- tradictions of life and the world that informs them. She can also come up with wonderful images as when she says ‘My grandfather is an explosion/ Of colours, thoughts, and feelings’ or ‘My grandmother is a lake / Dotted with wildflowers, hidden deep in the forest.” I have no doubt the poet in her will grow with time and find a lot of sensitive and admiring minds. – Dr. K.
