Throughout the Muslim world, the beauty of the written word, with its exquisite aesthetic charm and the aphoristic wisdom essentially attached to its meaning, has always attracted viewers and readers. Calligraphy, sometimes with minimalist simplicity and often with extreme intricacy, almost always appeals both to the spectator and the reader. Some scholars even opine that the ornamented texts have no point other than the meanings they represent.
